Facebook Avatars! A Step-By-Step Guide To Create Your Own
Bye-bye BitMoji! As usual, Facebook is working hard to keep you on its platform for all of the hours of the day. In case you somehow missed all the cartoon versions of your relatives popping up in your newsfeed, Facebook has launched a brand new avatar feature for users in the United States. You can now seamlessly create and share cartoons of yourself doing all kinds of silly things for a full range of self-expression within the Facebook platform and messenger.
We had a ton of fun creating ours, so we put together a step by step guide to help you create your own. No more badly lit selfies for you...enjoy!
Step 1: Open your Facebook Mobile app, and tap on the three horizontal lines on the bottom right (on Apple) or top left (on Android) corner of your screen.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on “See More.”
Step 3: At the top of the drop-down, tap on “Avatars.”
Step 4: You’re in! To start creating your avatar, tap “Next” and “Get Started.”
Step 5: To get started, select one of the 27 different skin tone options, and tap “Next.”
Step 6: From here, you can customize everything from your avatar’s hairstyle and eye color to freckles, lipstick, nose shape, facial hair, outfits and so, so much more. If you can’t quite remember your eye shape or need a second look at your brows, tap the mirror icon in the top right corner of your screen, and your front-facing camera will open on a smaller screen next to your avatar. This way you can build your avatar right next to your very own face.
Step 7: Once you’ve spent far too long perfecting your mini-me, tap the checkmark in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Don't worry, if next week you do something crazy like cut BANGS, or shave your beard, it's easy to go back in and change your avatar's look any time.
Step 8: Tap “Next.”
Step 9: Finally, tap “Done” and you’re finished, voila!
Step 10: Share your new avatar with your friends or set it as a temporary profile picture, and have fun with your new personalized stickers in stories, comments, and messenger!
